1975
Dave opens Soda City after college and starts selling discount soda out of an old 3-bay gas station.
1976
Dave needs help meeting women, so he gets Bentley. While shopping for pet food, Dave sees more pet food for sale than soda, so he gets into the pet food business.
Late 80's
Dave realizes there are better pet food options that what he finds at the grocery store. So he learns more about pet nutrition and begins selling premium pet food.
2001
Dave starts a private label so he can sell great food directly to retail customers at a better price. He can’t meet minimum quantities, so he starts wholesaling and Dave’s Pet Food is born.
2005
As a retailer, Dave sees first-hand what pet owners want. Dave extends his product lines to meet customer demands.
2007
Dave testifies in front of Congress on behalf of small business owners for the first time. He becomes a long-time advocate of small businesses on a national level.
2009
Dave receives The National Retail Federation Silver Award, recognizing him for doing the most for the retail industry. Dave becomes one of the few independent retailers to sit on their board.
2015
Dave’s Pet Food starts distribution on both the East and West coasts, making Dave’s a true national brand.
2023
Dave’s teams with certified veterinary nutritionists to formulate functional diet recipes for cats and dogs. Doug, Dave’s son, joins the company.
